This concrete overlay floor in Derby was created using CARRcrete PROtop Loft over an existing sand:cement screed, adding just 3mm to the original surface height. We used our own micro concrete product which we manufacture here in the UK called CARRcrete PROtop Loft
CARRcrete InfinityFloor Satin Cream
After a long search for a polished look flooring we stumbled across the Carrcrete website. What a find! We talked to Simone who gave us all the information we needed and arranged for Dave to come to our house and discuss finishes and the product. He brought along some sample colours and different ways of finishing on boards which he left with us to make a decision. Hey presto we found just what we were looking for InfinityFloor Satin Cream with a PROtop concrete overlay.
Dave is a complete professional who exudes enthusiasm for his product. He completed the works laying and working the product with care and precision.
We are highly satisfied with our floor and it fits perfectly with the look style we were after. It is hard wearing and easy to maintain. We love it. Thanks Dave and Simone.
Frank and Jules Mitchell
Our client had originally wanted a power trowelled concrete floor ready for diamond polishing, unfortunately there was a breakdown in communication and the builder installed a sand:cement screed instead. A screed cannot be polished so this is where we stepped in to apply our of our concrete overlay products to the substrate. PROtop Loft was chosen to create the classic swirls and cloudiness associated with a power trowelled concrete floor.
Creating An Industrial Looking Concrete Floor
We applied our product in multiple thin coats to create a cloudy, lightly trowelled finish which is smooth and easy to maintain with our maintenance cleaning products.
CARRcrete PROtop Loft opens up new potential to existing floors, allowing you to transfer tired old substrates into contemporary concrete floors full of character and style.
Microcement floors are a great alternative to full thickness concrete floors as they allow you to choose your colours and textures so that concrete surface fully compliments the surroundings.
Benefits To Using A Microcement Overlay
There many benefits to using a microcement overlay opposed to a regular concrete floor surface. But in this instance a micro concrete overlay was chosen because there was already a sand:cement screed in place which was almost at finish floor height. A screed cannot be polished so a micro topping or concrete overlay was required. CARRcrete PROtop Loft was chosen because it is incredibly ECO friendly and rapidly hardens to allow for a quick turn around on the project.
Dave Carr’s Thoughts On This Micro Concrete Overlay Floor Derby
I really enjoyed working on this floor as not only did the floor look superb once finished, the clients were also really lovely people and relatively close to home. We worked quite closely with our clients by supplying plenty of sample boards so they could see the various tones and textures available with PROtop Loft. A light grey colour was chosen to produce a swirled and cloudy concrete floor surface that looked similar to a power trowelled concrete floor. We call this our InfinityFloor Satin Cream finish.
