This concrete floor we polished in Reading was a great project to work on. Not only because the floor was really well laid, nicely power trowelled and flat; but also because we had a great deal of client involvement.
Initially we were contracted to polish this floor to the CARRcrete Satin Cream specification which requires a very well power trowelled floor and mechanical polishing of the surface laitence. But once test areas were completed, the clients were actually leaning more toward our salt:pepper finish which requires around 1mm of surface material to be removed to expose the fine sands in the concrete matrix.
As the process required only a small amount of material removed from the surface, we opted to switch out our counter rotating machine in favour of our small planetary machine, which has a more gently grinding action.
